Subject:-State mourning on the demise of HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS, SUPREME PONTIFF OF THE HOLY SEE.

Ref: Wireless message dated 21.04.2025 sent by Joint Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs

HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS, SUPREME PONTIFF OF THE HOLY SEE has passed away on 21st April 2025. Three days state mourning has been declared by the Government of India on his demise.

2/ Therefore, in honour of the departed dignitary, three days of mourning will be observed in the state as follows:

(1) Two days of State mourning on Tuesday (April 22nd, 2025), Wednesday (April 23rd, 2025).

(2) One day State mourning on the day of funeral (date of funeral to be notified separately)

3/ During the period of state mourning, the national flag will fly at half-mast at all Government buildings and places where the national flag is flown regularly and no entertainment/cultural programmes will be organised at Government level.।
